Fuel for Coleman F1 lite

I'm having difficulty getting my usual Coleman fuel in 100 size canisters. One outdoors shop tells me the Primus canisters work with this type of stove. These seem easier to find and the fuel would work better at low temperature.
However, I don't want to use a fuel that isn't right for the stove or won't fit the thread properly.
Any experience of this folks? (And where is Chris Townsend when you need him?)
