Whilst I have no experience of the 'Source System' with the problem you describe perhaps you may wish to consider a cheaper alternative!!!
I assume the ‘Source system’ is for drinking on the move and operates the same principle as ‘Platypus’ with the fluid exiting the water reservoir from the base, always a dodgy business especially when carried inside the rucksack. I to suffered the soggy rucksack experiences you describe with the Platypus and so looked for an alternative and discovered the SmarTube system.
Basically you get a tube, mouthpiece and a screw cap that attaches to a drinks bottle that you utilise as your water reservoir.
Go to: www.bluedesert.com for a full description of how it works and the variations of water reservoirs available to be used with it.
Normally SmarTube retails for about £10.00, but I got my replacements for £1.99 + P & P. from www.campingandleisure.co.uk
I have used this system for last three years and I’ve had no problem. If the pop bottle becomes battered/dirty just replace it at the next shop. The other advantage is that the bottle and contents remain upright with little chance of leakage. When replacing the bottle, obviously ensure that the Smartube screw top/valve is compatible with the new bottle!
Originally I used a 1.5 litre bottle (1.5 kgs) but now use a 500 ml Fanta bottle + shortened tube in conjunction with an Aqua Pure Traveller bottle filter.
