The open doors of the immensity.

The smile of the sunshine accompanies them in the beloved stroll along the paths of the valley and in these magic moments their attention is turned to the sounds of the young birds singing the chorus that lives in the tenderness of the meadows full of flowers blooming while the touch of the villager bell remembers that everything is destined to die leaving the trace of a solitary passage.
When a glimmer of light settles on the pond surface reflecting the movement of the leaves creating the dance of a trembling emotion they decide to stop for observing the stunning colors of the nature and so, after having sat on a bench situated close to a garden, this sweet couple in love relives with the thought the happiest moments of a serene existence lived in the certainty of a strong and sincere feeling.
While the wind blows bringing a sensation of nostalgic quietness and the sunset is arriving with the fleeting light of a fugitive ray they resume their walk reaching the top of a hill and here, sitting on the wet grass, their look runs in the immensity searching the glimmer of a constant faith.

Song of life.

And when the song of a free bird is touching
the sunset to follow the trail of an inner happiness,
while the flame of the candor is spreading again
for giving the silence and a fugitive smile, when
everything shines and time, with a soft wind, is
running away I can feel, in my heart, a glimmer
of life that always remains...

El sonido del amor.
( third version )

En el canto de
la noche brilla la
luz del amor infinito
y en esta magia
cada cosa adquiere
un aspecto distinto,
con un tierno sonido
que dona el candor.
Pero esta mágica luz
es fuente de extremo
sufrimiento, como
la noche que viene
para morir donando
a la estrella el miedo
perpetuo.
La naturaleza se
adormece en la fuerza
del silencio y las
mágicas rosas, como
siempre encantadas,
miran la luna
expresando el placer.

Esta poesía me lleva
a un mundo diferente
aunque mi vida es como
la noche que muere
en silencio; siento
el miedo en mi triste
poesía: pero ella estaba
allí...

I\'ve been fascinated with cold war history all my life (born in 1978) and typing this as I sit in my car at D26. Thanks so much for all the time and effort you\'ve put into this site!

Hi There!

I live up the road from dual site in Carlton, Mi. I\'ve been interested in these sites for years. Sometimes, I think America would have been better off, if we would have kept up these sites and upgraded them as time went on. This is especially since times today with Russia and China. If these sites had been active, 9/11 would have never happened. But, instead, we shut them down to fund a war in Vietnam that was based on a utter lie. :rage:

**** the cowardly and crooked Kennedy and Johnson Presidents! May they rot in the Devil\'s hell.

From April, 1958 through October, 1959, I was assigned to Battery A , Third Missile Battalion, 55th Artillery, Detroit, Michigan USARADCOM. During that time I served as Platoon Leader of Area 23. It was located on the Detroit River. The Lawrence Fisher estate was to our north. Our missiles were housed on the northern tip of Belle Isle. The Battery Commander at the time was Capt. Charles Cook and the Executive Officer was Capt. Ted Manross. The Platoon Leader for Area 26 was Lt. Roy Keenan. I have a very clear aerial photograph of Area 23 as it stood at that time (buildings all identifiable) if anyone is interested.

I was stationed on Belle Isle from 1956 to 1959. When I tell people that I was stationed on an island they start thinking places like the south pacific. No, I was on an island in the Detroit river.LOL

Hi ,

I grew up in Willowick, The Eastlake Ohio NIKE SITE is remembered well , My late Father recalled rockets on the launch pads - in Willowick ( now Manry park ) barracks & two towers were present & surrounded by barbed wire for a long time
Willowick also had a site with barracks & barbed wire on the fencing surrounding the now Dudley park

I recall going to Cleveland and seeing numerous barracks just past Bratenahl ( spelling ) just before Lake Erie came into view on the right , headinfd West on the Highway to Cleveland from Willowick

Great website
