Re: Barrisdale Bay and or Estate

Hi Shaun.
I was there in late April of this year on my Cape Wrath adventure. I can confirm pretty much what Colin Crawford has said in his post, with the added information that the requested amount is a nightly charge of UK£5, (regardless of whether you camp or stay in the bothy). After arriving at 9pm after a long hard day from Sourlies, I was more than happy to crash out in the bothy. It doesn't have a fireplace, but there is a working toilet, a large kitchen/dining room with a sink that has running water and one electrical plug outlet. It has two dorms with 6 bunk berths in each room. There is also a second toilet to the side of the building. The bothy was clean and dry. One word of warning, if you are planning on walking out from Barrisdale to Kinloch Hourn; don't understimate how difficult it is. Although only 4-5 hours, it is very up and down, and you will feel like you have done a full day's walking by the time you reach Kinloch Hourn. Regards (and Good Luck!), Robert Fay
