Re: Local councillors

Technically, I live in Bryn Ward - they've split the electorate on arbitrary lines. So we get two lots of representation for our council tax, two lots of councillors to fight for our (really just one) town. Aren't they re-building our market steps at last, for the market that has virtually ceased to exist? And we got some new street furniture near the Jobcentre a couple of years ago (to admire while queuing in the traffic) - be grateful. (Tongue firmly in cheek!)

Re: Local councillors

Surely the shops on Wigan Rd. should be done up before a fountain is put up in Wigan.

Re: Local councillors

Even if the private landlords of those very grotty shops did invest in modernising them, they'd still be lucky to find interesting new business tenants. Wigan, with its 'fabulous' new paddling pool, is going to struggle to draw in thriving businesses up there, after splashing out OUR taxes.
