1956 WIZARD POWERMATIC 12

have a 1956 wizard 12 hp powermatic model #wn7a s#925475 i was needing to know where i could find a service manual or info about rebuilding lower unit

Re: 1956 WIZARD POWERMATIC 12

Made by Kiekhaefer (Mercury) Mark 25 powerhead
If a non shift lower unit probably similar to Mercury KE4 thru KG4 lower unit
If a Shift type lower unit probably similar to Mercury Mark 15 thru Mark 25
and KH7
Either way Mercury Service Manual for 1965 and prior models should cover the
factory methods used with similar Mercury models. Read the manual very carefully
and take note of use of Service Tools for hints on how to do without them.
It may VERY helpful to look over the Mercury Parts Manual illustrations keyed to name and part number posted on Western New York AOMCI chapter site. Digital camera and note taking a good idea as you take things apart.

Be very careful to keep parts in order as you take them out as they will have
to go back in the same order. Seals are usually bad bearings may be reusable
If in doubt get new bearings.

Mercurys are "similar" to Wizards...some parts will vary...just enough to
be not the same as.

Manuals can be very enlightening BUT sometimes as NASCAR Smokey said it not so much what the book says as what it does not say.
