Re: WJ7 Seperate power head and lower cowl from lower unit?

Drive shaft splines can be corroded into socket in end of crank shaft. What is
your general impression of prior owner's use and care? Does it seem likely
to have corrosion issues. A motor left out in weather looses protective shield
of grease and grime so corrosion issues common. A motor encased in grease and
grime likely had a roof over it and possibly a warm dry basement. Unless you
have xray vision it is kind of hard to know what to expect for sure.
Does the motor run? Leaving fasteners in but a little loose a running motor
produces vibrations that MAY free a stuck drive shaft and for sure a tight
gasket.
Stuck issues are problems best solved with patience and mild methods.
The BIG hammer approach makes low price scrap rrom high price parts.
