1947 Wizard WD3 Outboard

Looking for cowling and spark plug cover. Any suggestions?

Re: 1947 Wizard WD3 Outboard

You have lots of company. Many of the WD3,WD4,KD3,KD4
are missing those very items.I have several missing
those parts as well as rewinds. Incomplete motors are
likely to remain so. Several generations back it was
the fashion to remove "excess" for sporty look or
supposed easier access for fine tuning.
Some parts are available reproduced. You will have to
decide if quality and price meet your expectations.

I am not saying these parts can not be found...I will say that I too am looking. At last meet I saw a complete example with an asking price of $100...
from there you can figure a coil, impeller perhaps
rings, bearings and seals BUT the hard part is over.

Louis,

Thanks for the quick reply. I guess I'll just keep looking.

Fix it and run it. The missing cosmetic items may come
to hand or may not. Motor will function with or without...the "sporty look" may even grow on you.

By the way, the WD-3 is from 1946.
The WD-3S was 1947.

Re: "need spark plug wire and details how to change it inside the motor"

Dustin, if you're handy with tools just follow your nose and get in there. Wire is available from auto parts or small engine stores. Don't buy resistor wire - get real metal core wire, like what's in the motor now. It isn't rocket science. Holler if you get stuck. JW in Dixie
