i have a wizard outboard my dad bought in 69 before he died in 70 the gas tank is made on the top of the engine and the tank is rusted when you start it runs for about 2or 4 min and stops can you or is there a way to fix the tank

Re: wizard

Pull the tank and remove the fuel fitting. Put some gravel or nuts and bolts into the tank and rattle it around to dislodge the rust. empty the tank of gravel and rust. Blow it out with air avoiding the blast from coming out towards you (not good tasting...don't ask). Some coat the inside of tanks with POR-15 or similar tank sealer, but gas with oil in it should be enough if kept fresh. Clean the fuel lines and carb. and you may have a runner.

Re: wizard

Have you checked water flow?? It may be getting hot and quitting. If the pump impeller is good and there is water escaping out of the holes in the tower, most likely it is fuel flow. JW in Dixie
