WM-7A

I have a motor that resembles the picture of a Scott built motor in the picture page i have replaced the points and condensors but i cannot find the coils for this motor. it is a 10HP motor and i can't seem to get any spark when i pull on the recoil rope, does anyone have any idea where i could find the coils for this motor? After i found this website i really would like to restore this motor to its original state.

Re: WM-7A

Hmmm... if it is a WM-7A, it will be one made by Mercury, and that should be the Phelon magneto, for which you can get coils at several places. But if it is marked Scott, then it was actually made by McCulloch after they purchased Scott-Atwater outboards. The McCulloch coils are a little harder to find (eBay is a good source) but I'm sure we can direct you to some sources.

But, at this point, we need to figure out what you have. Can you post a picture to a pic site and then post the link here?

Re: WM-7A

It is a phelon magneto 10 hp motor I have all of the numbers off of it. If you could point me in the right direction I would be greatly appreciative of your help

Re: WM-7A

East Coast Marine stocks the Phelon coils and condensers (you can probably salvage the points by polishing up the contacts).

Coils:

Condensers:

But, another person you might want to check with (he has competitive prices) is AOMCI member Jim Judkins. His email is oldoutboardjim@hotmail.com. I recently bought some Bendix coils and condensers from him ... best price on those for sure.
