A recent find has me baffled, a Wizard 5.5 by oliver has been sitting in the back of a 70 year old mans garage for 40 + years, it is in very good shape. The last year he ran it he drained the oil out of the lower unit and gas out of the carb, put new plugs in and left it. I put new oil in and sprayed W.D. 40 in the cylanders pulled the cord good compression no spark any suggestions.
SOP to pull flywheel and polish contacts (points)
very often that is all that is required...
also look for physical deterioration of coils, wires,
condensors...
Some coils are known for durability and some for
just the opposite
Thanks for the information. Since the last posting I have removed the flywheel and found that the coils have some corrosion as well as the condensers. I am in the process of cleaning them. I was surprised that the magnetic was not on the flywheel but on the crank like an armature I guess I am use to lawn mower motors will post if I get it running.
