Reforming National Testing Agency

The seven-member committee led by former ISRO Chairman K. Radhakrishnan is evaluating reforms within the National Testing Agency (NTA). This high-level committee will submit its report to the government in two months. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan highlights this initiative, but is it enough? Forming a committee and following its recommendations won't easily reform the examination system.

The complexities of education and examination require comprehensive dialogue with all stakeholders, including students, parents, and state governments. The NTA's creation did not establish accountability, operating as a registered society with 14 officers on deputation and heavy reliance on outsourcing. To prevent exam leaks and malpractice, decentralizing exams, as previously done, is essential. If decentralization isn’t feasible, immediate accountability must be established at the top level.

The government must understand that exams are more than admissions or jobs; they test public trust in educational institutions. For more insights, stay updated with the Latest news in Hindi on our platform.
