Remembering Charlie J.

Charlie Jarzombek perished in a Martinsville, VA NASCAR Modified Tour event with the Wilsburg #5 exactly 18 years ago today. Think about his #1 rides too!!

Re: Remembering Charlie J.

Thanks for the reminder of this great driver. I will always remember my first trip to the Islip Speedway in 1970, and seeing this beautful white coupe with a big red #1 and a roar of the big block chevy power fed by dual throat weber carbs sticking through the hood. He came out onto the speedway like no other back then, and would come from almost last in the feature to win it, passing cars on the outside of this high banked 1/5th of a mile bullring taking the checkered flag more often than not. I will always credit Charlie for getting me into this great sport. May God keep him close always.
