If it's a very small area, I might use my stair tool.
Otherwise, with my Challenger - definitely.
I will occasionally do a job using just dry pads. But I will apply more spray to compensate for the lack of moisture in the pads. There is somewhere a business start-up package similar to my own that uses rectangular (12" x 18") fixed orbital machines. They advise their people to clean with dry pads. They use actual cotton towels.
