Re: carpet cleaning business

My Package covers just about everything you need in the way of equipment and supplies. You should have (or buy) a vacuum cleaner (uprights are considered better than canisters by most pros) and a 2-gallon pump sprayer (about $20 - 25 at most any hardware store or home supply center). Buying an insurance policy is your option. It is very rare for a residential customer to inquire as to whether you are insured or bonded (bonding applies to any employees you may have - not to yourself personally.) A $1,000,000 liability policy will cost you in the range of $700 - 800, and is good for a year. I didn't buy my first insurance policy until I had a proposal submitted to a good sized commercial prospect, who asked me to have my insurance agent fax them a copy of my insurance certificate. I had to decide whether what I would earn if I got the work would be worth the gamble of spending several hundred dollars on a policy. I decided to go ahead and do so, and these people (a country club) have been good customers now for many years, bring in between $1500 and $2500 per year.
You will need to have some $$ set aside for start-up marketing, but the Training Manual part of my Package will tell you about many no-cost/low-cost marketing techniques. You pick the one/s that best suit your own personal style.

Re: carpet cleaning business

i am mostly commercial, and i still dont have 1 mill liability

lol...some day...

in 16 years of doing janitorial and now just CC'ing, we've never been bonded.

if you are an owner/op there really is no point in being bonded.

Re: carpet cleaning business

thanks for info mark and derek

Re: carpet cleaning business

wow Derek!

I wish we could get by here that way :o)

Our 1st major commercial account not only wanted one mil coverage liability but also on our vehicle!

like Mark said you have to count your peanuts and see if its worth it. this particular account is 6k a year so it's worth it.
800 bus. liability and 1000 to 1200 for vehicle.

in our area they are real big on this, maybe cause were close to the border dont know.

good luck to you guys!
