When should we replace the pad driver?

Mine is worned out, has cracks on the edges, and all the fuzzies don't come out from the velcro. Does this affect my cleaning ability? Would it have a higher chance to damaging carpet possibly tip blooming?

Challenger can send you either a replacement for the plywood circle with new velcro attached, or a new pad driver. With the replacement for the velcro, you have to remove the old one first. I tried just gluing the new one over the original one, and my Challenger ran very roughly. (Live & learn.)
