I went to do some commercial marketing today. It went ok. I noticed that sometimes you have the workers happily greet you until they find out you’re marketing your carpet cleaning business. Then they kind of ignore you or talk down to you. What's the deal with people sometimes? It still did not discourage me. I'm still pounding the pavement and got 3 leads today on companies that are affiliated with other companies.
My question is what is the best way to approach a business? Maybe I can critique my approach.
I have always mailed something first, then tried to follow up with a phone call. This gets difficult after you've become busy. Others just stop and walk into businesses likely to have carpet and see if they can get anywhere with the people they find there. I haven't often followed this route, so I am of little value in trying to advise you how to proceed.
