I was reading an old post below relating to cleaning soiled pads. Rather than posting on that tread I decided to start a new tread.
As stated below, bleach will shorten the life of your pads. However, some pads become so soiled that you often have no choice but to use bleach. What I have been doing (and it has really worked for me) is putting 3 to 4 oz. of detergent in a 5 gal. bucket and filling the bucket with 1 1/2 gal of water. The pads are placed in the bucket as I use them. The detergent and water mixture helps to loosen the soil by the time of washing. Consequently, I have been able to limit the use of bleach and the pads come out cleaner.
so instead of say, putting the used / soiled pads in a bag or empty bucket, you put them into a bucket of laundry detergent & water and lettem soak til you gettem in the washer machine?
if so, sounds like a good idea. what kinda detergent you use?
Derek:
The used pads are placed in the bucket until wash time.
I use whatever carpet cleaning detergent I have available that I use for C/C, or you can use a common household laundry detergent.
