Buffing VCT with my challenger

A church in my town wants me to buff their VCT flooring next month. The wax is already down and they will sweep before I buff. Will my Challenger work on this job or do I need to rent a buffer. Also what kinda buffing pad should I use?

Re: Buffing VCT with my challenger

hiyas Chuck

buffing is normally done with a high rpm rotary, around 1600 rpm.

i would guess the Challenger would be too aggressive for buffing. maybe Mark will correct me.

thanx --- Derek.

Re: Buffing VCT with my challenger

Derek, it wouldn't be too aggressive, it would be too slow.

You need more heat than an orbital machine can deliver. An op machine will scrub and strip great, but no buffing.

Re: Buffing VCT with my challenger

I have used my Challenger to both clean and strip various types of tile floors, including VCT. But I
am not familiar with what you called wax. Somtimes
people refer to hard-drying acrylics as wax, whereas
to me wax suggests something like paste wax which is
buffed up into a shine on various types of floors.
If they want you to apply "wax", after cleaning, you
might consider QUICK-SHINE. (www.hollowayhouse.com)
