is insurance recommended ?

Re: insurance

Hi John
The standard carpet cleaner's liability insurance
covers damage you or your equipment might do to things
other than the carpet you are working on: you break
a lamp; you blow out the house's electrical system;
you spill something onto a marble floor which damages
it, etc. Someone reading this who is more
knowledgeable than I on this subject may be able to
direct you to a company which will insure you if you
damage the carpet you are cleaning.

Some (I repeat, some) commercial customers whose business you are seeking will require that you have
insurance. If you don't have any, but want your
proposal to be considered, you should plan to acquire
a basic liability policy. Go see whoever handles your
regular insurance matters. They should be able to
take care of you. It is quite rare for a residential
customer to ask you if you carry insurance. I last
heard this question several years ago.
