Hello there,

I'm heading off from Shiel Bridge, and so my first evening destination is the Glen Affric Youth Hostel. However, I'd prefer to wild camp instead of stay in the hostel for the night. Does anyone know a good place to pitch a tent near the hostel? Or will I find plenty of space as I get out that way?

I think I’m right in saying that camping close to the youth hostel is discouraged. However, there’s lots of space higher or lower down the valley. I’ve camped there a couple of times with no problems.

I have camped thereabouts in the late autumn when the hostel was closed for the winter. Some boggy areas, but it wasn't too difficult to find a decent pitch.

There are good level camping spots by Allt Beithe Garbh before it joins the River Affic.

Had a perfect night there some years ago.
