Greetings all,

I'm seeking advice on which rail departure to take from Montrose to catch a flight out of Inverness after the Challenge. I'm set to finish on Fri May 26th and stay for the dinner in Montrose. My flight is the following morning at 11:15. I'm flying Inverness -> London -> San Francisco, USA.

It seems my two best options are:

1.) After dinner in Montrose, take the 21:16 train which arrives at Inverness Airport at midnight. Stay at a hotel near the airport and fly out the following morning.

2.) Stay the night in Montrose after dinner. The next morning take the 06:19 train which arrives at Inverness Airport at 09:24. This gives me a little less than 2 hours to make the flight. My concern is that if there's any delay with the train or airport checkin, I might be cutting it too close.

Any recommendations would be appreciated. I'm leaning towards option 1.

I'm not sure my reply will be much help to you, but is there any chance you could finish on the Thursday? That way you can enjoy the evening meal, relax and socialise with all your new friends, stay in Montrose and catch a train the following day, stay at the airport hotel (a new Marriott I believe) and be confident of catching your flight. If you are committed to finishing on the Friday, I would catch the evening train to have a better chance of making your flight, but I fear you will feel rushed, stressed and not enjoy your socialising, which would be a shame.

I agree with Louise. Try to arrive the Thursday.

2 hours is not long enough to get from train station to Airport, check in your pack, get through security and get to the gate.
