Fancy a stroll in the Vale of Pewsey?

I'm organising a weekend wander for the Backpackers Club , but would like to extend the invitation to fellow TGOCers who'd like to spend the weekend back in your tent in good company.

it's a great opportunity to see inside the 1st modern (i.e 21st C ) long barrow . It is an absolute delight.

November 11 – 13

Maps: LR173 or EX157
Friday: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx , £8 per person , cars can be left.
Public Transport - Train to Bedwyn (arrive 13:35), Led walk along towpath of Kennet & Avon Canal W to Wootton Rivers , path S to Campsite (12km 82m ascent).
Saturday:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, All Cannings , £5 per person

High Level: N to join Tan Hill Way , Tan Hill , S to All Cannings (20km 400m Ascent)
Medium: N to join Tan Hill Way, Walkers Hill , field paths to All Cannings (17km 300 m ascent)
Low level: NW to Oare , Alton Barnes, All Cannings (15km 110m ascent)

Sunday: Visit the long barrow (SU073627) www.thelongbarrow.com, before returning.
Pewsey station via Kennet & Avon towpath. (11km 60m ascent)

Is a wee dog allowed? We have a well behaved border terrier……

Also, is it October 11 - 13 as in the title OR November 11 - 13 as in the message block?

Well spotted , it is November ... where's Siri when you need them.

Dogs are allowed at the campsites , of course we're walking through livestock at times.

Hi again Andy. And hi again Julie.

The Kennet and Avon canal was the location of our first backpacking trip in 1981 when practising for our first challenge. Also did some trips with Andy and the Reading backpackers then, so surprised it took Andy so long (41 years!) to do his first challenge. So count us in. Just need to arrange care for the rabbits - can’t bring them because they would destroy the tent in about 20 secs. Nic and Vic
