Banchory campsite location suggestions

Seeking suggestions for locations in close proximity (=/- 2 km) to Banchory to pitch two tents for a single night. Somewhat private, if practicable - spouse snores loudly. Budget lodging suggestions also welcome.

Thank you.

Re: Banchory campsite location suggestions

There are two caravan sites in Banchory itself, neither of which accept tents.
The nearest official site that takes tents is at Feughside https://www.feughsidecaravanpark.co.uk/
In 2021 the Activity centre at Knockburn Loch had camping available. https://www.knockburn.co.uk/camping

From what I can gather, Silver Ladies Caravan Park near Strachan is also static vans only.

Milton of Crathes have a big field which is used for club meetings and events, maybe they could be persuaded to allow a couple of tents. https://www.leysestate.com/milton-of-crathes/

If I was looking for wild camping I would consider the area around the sand quarries at Crathes
NO 747962 or on the bank of the river near NO 727961.Potarch has been used by challengers in the past but the portable toilet that was there has been removed, I have tried finding out from Aberdeenshire Council as to whether the are going to be reopened but can't get a reply. There is a lot of forest between Potarch and Scolty Hill just outside Banchory.

Thank you.

Re: Banchory campsite location suggestions

I've also found this: the Girlguides have a campsite at Crathes Castle, https://explore.osmaps.com/en?lat=57.059554&lon=-2.435325&zoom=17.6000

I don't know if they would be interested in letting challengers use it but it might be worth asking.
