At Roger's request David reluctantly "escorted" me on my first Challenge in 1994.It was as I said at the time "the hardest thing I have ever done".We started in Acharacle and finished in Arbroath and by then had become good mates. David was a super walker and certainly influenced me and subsequently Phyllis to repeat further Challenges. He was a great help in route suggestions over the years. October 1994 TGO magazine includes an expansive article about that first Challenge.
David will be sorely missed, always a Challenge Legend. Our sincere condolences to Elizabeth and the Towers family.
