Re: Dalwhinnie & Rannoch Station accommodation

Hi. There’s the Old School Hostel on Ben Alder Road, Dalwhinnie and also The Loch Ericht Hotel. The Bridge of Gaur guesthouse, about 10k or so from Rannoch Station, I’ve heard is very good. I think the Moor of Rannoch hotel nearer the station looks lovely but is a bit pricey. I’m hoping to wild camp somewhere in that area if the Challenge goes ahead this year.

Re: Dalwhinnie & Rannoch Station accommodation

I’ve stayed at at both the Moor of Rannoch hotel and Bridge of Gaur ‘middle of nowhere’ guesthouse and highly recommend both.

Re: Dalwhinnie & Rannoch Station accommodation

The Moor of Rannoch hotel is wonderful, and a real treat. Worth every penny. . Great welcome, food and comfort. The problem is moving on!

Re: Dalwhinnie & Rannoch Station accommodation

Thanks everyone, that's really useful information.
It's not for me, but a friend who will be walking in the area in May....assuming Covid-19 regs allow her out to play!

Re: Dalwhinnie & Rannoch Station accommodation

John,
The waiting room at Rannoch Station is left unlocked all night, it has bench seats and is warm & dry. It has an inside toilet & the guy running the tea room leaves an electric kettle, tea & coffee makings for benighted folk. Food in the Tea Room is excellent.
Hope this information helps your lady friend.
Geoff

Thank you Geoff, I've passed this on.
I'm sure it will prove interesting to others too!
