Tim Wood

We are very sad to report that Tim Wood has died at the age of 85. He had been ill with cancer for some time. He and his late wife, Kate completed 12 Challenge crossings the last one in 2011. Kate died a few years ago and Tim did not walk another Challenge but kept himself busy with new occupations. He always kept in touch with us and with the Hill & Mountain Walking Club as both were important parts of their lives. Our condolences go to his family who live in France. He will be remembered for his kindness and generosity and he was always polite and considerate, which you sound found out if you ever came across him and Kate on a Challenge. He will be sadly missed and always remembered.

Re: Tim Wood

This has been a terrible for the Challenge family. We knew Tim & Kate for many years and a nicer couple you could not wish to meet. Always kind and with a supportive word when you were finding the going tough. We had not seen Tim since Kate passed away but will always have fond memories of them both. Our condolences to their family in France and all their many friends.

Re: Tim Wood

This has indeed been a sad time. I met Tim and Kate in 2011 and they were so friendly and kind. My condolences to his friends and family.

Re: Tim Wood

What grim news.
I met and walked with Tim & Kate on many Challenges, they were delightful.
R.I.P. both.
