Greetings from the flat country

I just want to say hello to all here, and wish you all good health.

After a failed Challenge I have been back in the Scottish hills each year and getting fitter and enjoying wild camping and bothying very much. Last year I spent a wonderful week in the Cairngorms with my son (all rain, all wind, all great stuff :relieved: ). He's studying in Aberdeen now but he can't get out to the hills. Maybe in September, let's hope so and I will try and join him.

And for 2021: I will apply for a spot on the Challenge, and whether I get in or not: just the preparation will do me a world of good in this strange period. See you all on the hill!

Greetings from the flat land,
Andre Hilhorst

Re: Greetings from the flat country

Hello Andre! I'm sure the only reason you have had no replies here, is that there is now a very busy Facebook page for the Challenge. I hope you find the page and communicate with everyone there! People are tending to use this Message Board less now. It's nice to hear your news, and we hope to meet you on the next Challenge when you get a place.:+1: :slightly_smiling_face:

Re: Greetings from the flat country

Hi Marian,
Modern times indeed :-). Thank you for the heads up, I felt a bit forlorn, but it's off to Facebook!

Thanks again and hope to meet on The Challenge!

Many greetings,
Andre Hilhorst

Re: Greetings from the flat country

It's a pity that you missed the Facebook-centred 'Virtual Challenge', where some of us pretended to be having adventures across Scotland from our Lockdown situations. We shared old pictures too, of favourite camp places and summits, disasters and triumphs. However: we don't have to stop now, do share any relevant pictures and stories you have of Scotland! :grinning:

Re: Greetings from the flat country

Hi Marian,
I did not miss that Challenge, my vote went to the lady in the wheelbarrow :-)!. I just did not connect the dots with this forums virtual demise....

Pictures will be shared!

Thank you for being so nice to a newby lowlander, I appreciate it very much. I do feel a real community around the Challenge.

Greetings,
Andre
