Re: 2 person tent

Thanks for the useful tips Chris, The Jaran is looking like a favorite right now, ticking most of the boxes.
Hope to see you on the trail,
Cheers,
Duncan

Re: 2 person tent

We have used a variety of Terra Nova Lasers over the years, squashing ourselves into tiny but reliable mountain tents to save weight. Also used Vaude Power Lizards: the 1/2 person version though a slight squash, has been a success for some years and very stable in stormy weather. Then we got the Vaude Power Lizard 2/3 person version. This is huge, loads of space for 2 but rather flappy in high winds: however, it hasn't taken off with us (yet) though we did sit up fully clothed in it on one particularly brutal night (the tent survived fine, double pegged, but we were shattered!). Now we also have a supposedly 2-man TN Laser with 2 doors so Mike can sneak out the back for a quick pee - but it's turned out to be the smallest tent we've ever used! Others will recommend Hillebergs as they are bombproof, but all somewhat heavy. :+1:

Re: 2 person tent

Thanks for the advice Marian, it sounds like you've had some exciting nights out!
The Vaude Power Lizard looks like a great tent with amazing space for the weight, but the single entrance is a deal breaker for the missus.
I agree with you about the Hillebergs but they seem best for more exposed camping, I'm too old and fond of luxury to pitch too high in the mountains
:grinning:

Re: 2 person tent

Have you thought about the
Tarptent Scarp 2?

Link

1.7kg, 2 entrances, 2 porches

Re: 2 person tent

That looks like a great tent Andrew, thanks for the link - have you tried it out with two people and all of their kit?
Looking at Tarptent's range the Cloudburst 3 looks like another likely candidate - any experiences with that one?
Smiles,
Duncan
