Interestingly (coincidently?) the mis-management of the moorland above Hebden Bridge, the 'wild Bronte moorland' referred to in the book, is subject to a lot of local criticism and concern.
It's strongly suspected that the mis-management is a very significant contributor to the floods the area has suffered in recent years.
Landowners deny all responsibility.
