Just like you, my lovely camera gave up right at the start - start of day 2 for me. My phone as a substitute was pretty good though,except the screen was so dull I couldn't actually see what I was shooting. Bloody annoying though!
Tragic to lose your whiskey too!!!

Caburn - I know what you mean about the screen on sunny days (I keep forgetting I'm wearing sunglasses!).

The phone doesn't zoom like a proper camera so wildlife is much harder to photograph. landscapes are reasonably ok.

I hoped that it might just be the battery on the camera - but its not.
Sadly the camera wasn't expensive enough to be worth repairing but will cost best part of £200 to replace with the latest version of a 20x zoom small compact - Christmas won't be long - I'll start dropping hints!
