Hi Minna, I think you can only exchange them in person at the Bank of England in London; local and national banking companies no longer exchange them over the counter. But if you don't want to waste them, you can still post them to the Bank of England for exchange after the TGO.

Assuming they are old Bank of England notes (as opposed to those issued by one of the 3 Scottish banks) then you need to go here:

https://www.bankofengland.co.uk/banknotes/exchanging-old-banknotes

You send the notes to the BoE and they will credit your bank account.

Not sure how it works if they are Scottish notes though.
