Re: Glasgow to Dornie

GrahamH
Looks like I\'ll be a day behind you all the way to Dunottar Castle. I\'m going via Fort Augustus, over the Monadliath munroes to Newtonmore, then Glen Feshie to Braemar, over Lochnagar to tarfside then through the Fetteresso forest. I guess you\'re doing something a bit similar?
Graham, my route will hopefully take me via Aviemore to Glen Avon, Ballater, Fetteresso and Dunnottar Castle. I was determined to plan a route that didn't visit any of the places my previous (and first) Challenge in 2017.

Re: Glasgow to Dornie

Hello

Have you looked at AirBnB in Glasgow Sam? I see there are a few rooms that might meet your criteria at a range of price points, like this one:
https://www.airbnb.ca/rooms/22259622?location=Glasgow&adults=2&guests=1&check_in=2019-05-08&check_out=2019-05-09&s=hwe4QpF7
...and plenty more if you are willing to walk a bit and flip for who will be using their sleeping pad--- you are going to be doing a lot of that anyway!).

This is a first crossing for my husband and I and we hail from Canada so we don't have much in the way of advice to share. We have bought our tickets for the Citylink bus direct from Glasgow to Dornie since it suits our timing and keeps things simple, especially after an overnight flight and a stumble around Glasgow to find camp fuel and post office. Looks to be like there are other good options though. Perhaps we will see you at the Dornie Hotel or along the way.

Wishing you all happy healthy walking,
Martha

Re: Glasgow to Dornie

Martha, you should be able to get fuel and supplies close to Buchanan Street bus station.

There is a post office very close to the bus station Post Office

Re: Glasgow to Dornie

Thanks for all the help. We have booked the 10am city link bus from Glasgow to Dornie arriving at 15:30 and some overnight accommodation in a cheap hotel the night before in Glasgow. We’re staying in the Dornie Hotel so hope to see some of you for a ale or two in the evening
