Another option at Ballater

Ballater can be a busy place, if you're happy to stop short and do your resupply in town the next morning, or perhaps you don't want to go into town at all but will be passing close by, this could be the place for you. Situated in Glen Gairn on the A939, a new small campsite:

Re: Another option at Ballater

I walked past this a couple of weeks ago - looks really good, though not a lot of space for tents. There are great wild camp spots too on either side of the river by the footbridge just to the west.

Thanks Louise that looks really handy

Every little helps!

Re: Another option at Ballater

I drove past this site earlier in the year and it looked quite nice, maybe more of a caravan site than a backpackers site though.
As Willie says there are lots of good wild camping pitches along the Dee between Polhollick Bridge and the confluence of the Dee and the Gairn, including a good one right at the confluence at NO 352967.

For anyone coming down the Gairn, there is wild camping opportunity in the side glen, Glenfenzie Burn, around NJ 328009, upstream from the holiday cottage.

Ooo, that will be very handy for a future route I have planned
