I use Flickr but its upload speed is very variable. I don't know whether the slowness is due to my computer and software or the site itself. Like you, I had to give up and do something else the first time I tried this year, but the next time it just loaded 200 pictures within 20 minutes. I'll bet there are some techie experts out there who can give you better advice.

I use Flickr most of the time, but it's not entirely satisfying. The album customization options are limited, and it's not really set up to let you tell a story, with captions. But, it's free (up to some limit I suppose).

The only other option I'm aware of is a blog hosting site such as WordPress. That'll let you tell a story in a photo blog sort of way. But it takes more effort, and isn't free.

That's what I know, or think I know.

I upload mine to Google Photos, then add them to blogger from there. Seemed to work OK this year.
Setting up an album on Google Photos is a pain on the **** though.
