Re: Flying with gas!

Unfortunately, a great big NO to all of those. However, you should be able to buy some easily enough once you arrive: others will advise, too, if you say where you are flying to, and where starting your crossing. Best of luck!

Re: Flying with gas!

What kind of gas canister do you use? The standard ISO threaded type you should have no problem as they are available at most campsites with a shop, hardware stores, and a lot of small villages stores, they are also used with blowtorches so they are very common. Most cartridges of this type tend to be a propane/butane mix which means they can be used at sub zero temperatures, not that should be an issue in May. It is also very easy to get the twist and click type which has a smooth nozzle and a notched flange that is rotated 90deg to lock it in place. These types of canisters are becoming more common for use with bigger camping stoves, weed burners and kitchen type blowtorches, they tend to be pure butane. If you have a screw type stove you might want to consider carrying an adaptor, they weigh next to nothing but make it easier to make sure you can resupply with gas in out of the way places.https://www.amazon.co.uk/Outdoor-Camping-Connector-Bottle-Adaptor/dp/B072MK1JT9/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_200_lp_t_3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=KXBD9HVGY929F5W55BQA

The more unusual type canisters such as the old pierceable "bluet" type will only be available in more specialist type places.

Re: Flying with gas!

Thanks for the info Brian. I'd heard that about the gas canisters but had neglected to outfit myself.

Re: Flying with gas!

I normally fly to Glasgow and get a taxi to a outdoors shop to buy my gas then continue to the train station, it costs £17

Re: Flying with gas!

That's expensive gas Stef :sunglasses: .
