New Glen Affric Bothy?

Whilst researching my 2018 route through Glen Affric I came across this photograph on Geograph (http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5062422)
Does anyone know anything about this building? Is it a private or public bothy? Will it preclude camping near the beach?
Thanks

Re: New Glen Affric Bothy?

I suspect it is a private Estate Bothy Ray. Not sure how that will affect camping on the beach.

The bothy at Athnamullach has also been renovated by Trees for Life. Also a private.

Re: New Glen Affric Bothy?

I camped there this year. No problem camping. It was locked but there is a nice large covered veranda that you can use.

Re: New Glen Affric Bothy?

Thanks everyone

From Robins comment it seems it does not interfere with camping on the beach.

Norman... from your photo it seems that you can camp far enough away from the Lodge to avoid any disturbance.

Louise I had checked out the Trees for Life site regarding Athnamulloch Bothy and.... "Hiring the bothy costs £120 per night, with a minimum hire period of two nights. The bothy can only be hired by constituted organisations - we are unable to take bookings from individuals and informal groups."
I wonder how TfL feel about challengers camping close to their precious bothy

Anybody fancy setting up TGO Trail Bashers Co.Ltd, Inc., PLC

Re: New Glen Affric Bothy?

I've camped by Athnamulluch bothy twice on the Challenge, never had a problem 😊

Re: New Glen Affric Bothy?

Yes Louise I camped there with you in 2015 along with several others.
But I was wondering if TfL are using it for a tree planting party whether we will need to keep a respectful distance from it.
From what I remember the area further away from the bothy is not great from a comfortable pitch point of view.

Perhaps I have answered my own question, from the photos above , the beach is the place to be

P.S. How do you do the clicky thing and post a picture instead of just a letter icon

Re: New Glen Affric Bothy?

So you did.
Don't worry about TfL, connected to the Findhorn Foundation I think, they're a peaceable bunch, and unlikely to be doing any work at that time anyway. I camp by the bothy to get some kind of shelter from the weather, there's always weather when I'm there!
Don't ask me, search for Judith's link for the Avatar thingy, I don't do techy stuff without precise instructions 😂😂😂
