route ideas

sorry norman but this is such a good plan , and their is enough room in the boat for at least 6 pepole Route planning 2018

The SOUTH EAST PASSAGE
If you are considering a reasonable easy route, with lots of watering holes and loads of places to replenish supplies, that will lead you to meet lots of interesting people, and maybe a few very southerly challengers . You may want to take a look at this
(Courtesy of stormins knowledge of who to contact)
Starting at Oban
Head the normal way up the road to taynult , but when you reach the track junction at grid 890 291 ( sheet 49 ) don’t turn left toward taynult , go straight on ( south ) following the track toward loch Nant and loch Awe ,
You will arrive loch Awe at (Taychregan hotel .North port) on the west bank of the loch, tel 01866 833 211.
Cross the loch here and head across wild country to Loch Lomond (north end), Beinglas camp site, good place to send supply packs, also shop to restock supplies
The thing to consider, on the next section is to not go out of the southern boundaries of the challenge (you really are that far south at this point)
Head eastish across the hills (Fab waterfalls) to the rob Roy way at Strathyre (sheet 57) 561 172.
Note. To reach strathyre on the south side of loch voil, you need to get across the river at 455 180 (sheet 57) Which enables access to the track on the south side of loch voil, via a gate at 456 180, This involves a bit of bog hopping (1100m) from the bridge over the river lairg at 443 182 (sheet 57)
Anyway you are now on the rob Roy way .which has loads accommodation , wild camps , hostelries, shops ect to pitlochry .

King house hotel (expensive Beer)
Lochearnhead (1k to the east)
Killin
Ardeonig (Hotel) Tea and beer and food
Kenmore Shops and pubs
Aberfeldly (everything)
Pitlochry (everything)

Then eastish to Arbroath (or wherever)
Note, there is a good stop at the wee beer café, (formally a pub) at Bridgend of Lintrathen (283 545) sheet 57. Very helpful and let us camp in their garden. (Contact Gareth). (Also does b/b)

But saying all this, the key thing is.

Getting across loch Awe!
