Has anyone been in Sunart forest at the southern end of Loch Shiel?
I'm heading for the 167m hill called Torran nam Mial as there is supposed to be an ordnance survey trig point on the summit which isn't marked on any map. Apparently someone at the OS has an excel spreadsheet of all the known trig points in Britain and occasionally they add another one to it and I'm hoping that person will be me!
Other than hugging the banks of Loch Shiel I can't work out any other way of navigating through the forest from Claish Moss to Achnanellan and then to Polloch.
Six years ago, the former owner of Achnanellan ferried me over from Dalelia. But his boat was short on petrol and so he dropped me at Achnanellan in stead of Polloch. He then showed me the paths through the forest to get to Polloch - passing your target Torran nam Mialwithin 200m.
I will email you a map of the route - if I had your email......
Brilliant Bart, thanks for that. I want to walk that way as I want to take some pictures of Claish Moss, although from a distance. Walking over it would see me in very deep water! E-mail address is below.
