That way through did not show on any map I'd looked at but you've prompted me to look again at Where's The Path and I think I should be able to make my way through to the track, like you say.

It looks doable - and what's a TGO Challenge without a day swearing at a forest?

I am planning the same thing as you! I had found Alan's suggestion as well and think it will be doable.

In case you don't trust this, you could also look at the possibility of dropping down from Lochan na Cuidhe to NH300300 an reach the Affric-Kintail Way from there (see Where's the Path or Bing Maps).

Would be nice to see you there somewhere!

Yes, that looks like a possible option too, Hein. It looks like the trees are fairly widely spaced higher up the slope but I'm not sure if they're closer together lower down ..... but I should be on the track by then.

Judith - hi - one of my brothers lives in Cannich so I can ask him. I know that he paraglides from Beinn a' Chairein walking up from Cannich. If you let me know more exactly where you will be approaching from I can ask him for advice.

If he walks up to Beinn a' Chairein from Cannich then that sounds ideal as I'm hoping to walk in the opposite direction. I'll be somewhere in the V between Loch Mullardoch and Loch Beinn a' Mheadhoin hoping to get as near to Cannich as possible before having to use a road. I'll probably be crossing over Beinn a' Chairein.

My brother suggests either walking down the E ridge of Beinn a' Charein through the relative clearings that Alan mentions (obvious on Google Earth) until you reach the forest track. Turn R along this to reach the Affric-Kintail Way track and the road down into Cannich. He says the section coming through the forest before the main track is pathless, deep bracken and not easy to find your way if you don't know it (I'm sure you'd be fine though).

Alternatively if you head S directly from the summit passing the mast there is a faint Argocat trail that leads down to the Affric-Kintail track.
