Gloves for a rainy day

Can anyone recommend decent wet weather gloves that are relatively easy to get on and off when hands are wet. I have tried Sealskinz (hopeless at drying out) and RAB VR Tour gloves(very hard to get on with wet hands) and have disliked both of them.

My old Dachstein mitts are the best gloves I've had but they are a bit hot and heavy.

Ian,

You might try a pair of Goretex overmitts. They fit your criteria as long as you purchase them in a large size. I often wear them over a thinner pair of gloves and even on chilly days the combination is surprisingly warm. On warmer but wet days, they can be effective on their own. The downside, of course, is that they aren't cheap.

Thin waterproof overmitts (mine cost £16 and weigh next to nothing) and buffalo mitts.
More expensive are MLD eVent mitts $45 over gloves or mitts. Both combinations are much lighter than dachsteins.

and I also take a thin pair of run hill running gloves.

Second Colin’s system. Effective and versatile. Worth taking a couple of thin polartech gloves and rotate them if you’re out for more than one day. I’ve got thin Outdoors Designs ones. Slighlty left field is considering snowboarding mittens if it’s really cold.

Rab Phantom Grip gloves for me - your hands get wet but never cold.

Interesting, I've been looking at the Versaliners online, but don't know what size to get. Are they waterproof?

Re: Gloves for a rainy day

I found that the sizing guidelines on the OR website to be fairly accurate, at least for the men's large. They will keep your hands pretty dry with the over-gloves on. If you don't mind them being wet the gloves are pretty warm on their own. Two things though, you need to rig some sort of clip to keep the glove/over-glove together I'm fairly certain that I'll loose one of the four raher quickly. The other thing, and it's a big one for me, is that they are not touch screen compatible so you need to take both gloves off to check a phone ot other touch screen. I could probably adapt them with some conductive thread but for the price that ability should be built in.
