Fundraising on the TGO Challenge

Hi everyone,

In 2017 we've committed to putting in time fundraising for Mountain Rescue, a voluntary organization on call 24/7, day and night, every day of the year.

Mountain Rescue is made up of a network of teams which are known as 'professional volunteers', with dedicated training every year on search techniques, medical treatment, crag rescue and flood rescue - yet entirely unpaid with no government money. My team is TWSMRT, a Search & Mountain Rescue Team located to the north east of the Lake District. This team has recently been featured in Reported Missing, a >BBC documentary< showing what occurs behind the scenes when people are missing. Mountain Rescue are featured promimently in Episode 1 and 3, where the team searches for vulnerable people - with Gabe, my hiking partner, making the find.

Our challenge route will be rigorous route, with an aimed ten days of walking time, purely getting out there and testing our skills and endurance - not to mention enjoying the beautiful Scottish countryside and fresh air.

If you are able and willing to contribute financially to our cause, it would be very much appreciated. What is just as important is getting our story out there, and sharing our challenge via social media, and we would massively appreciate you sharing our story. It is always amazing how many people think Mountain Rescue are a full time paid service, and we take it as a compliment due to the professionalism and commitment we put in to both training and callouts.

Thanks for your time reading this.

Re: Fundraising on the TGO Challenge

Just realised the BBC link didn't quite work. Even if you aren't interested in the fund raising aspect at all - if you have a bit of time to watch, it has had good feedback on facebook and twitter, as well as nationally in the Times.
