Sadly we have to relay news of the passing of another Challenger:

Brian Shepherd, from Barrow in Furness Cumbria, passed away on 6/01/2017 aged 74. His funeral was held on 19/01/2016. He completed the challenge on several occasions. A man full of knowledge always planning routes, he tried to convince me to join him on the challenge a few times which I turned down... Now wish I'd done it with him ... Brian was a real character and a pleasure to hike with.

Brian completed the Challenge 6 times between 1986 and 2005. We're sure many Challengers will have crossed paths with him. Our condolences to his family and friends.

Sad to hear, Brian was great company, We shared the Queen Mothers picnic at The Gelder Shiel in the 80's. Fond memories, condolences to his family from Myra and Norman.

I met Brian several times on the Challenge but only got to walk half a day with him. A great character and my condolences got to his family.
