Crossing the Garry south of Blair Atholl

I'm planning to go from Loch Bhac to Blair Atholl - I've read a couple of accounts which seem to suggest you can cross the Garry south of Blair but I'm struggling to find the best route. To my tired eyes there looks like something sticking out into the river at GR 871649 but it seems to stop half way across! There seems to be some sort of bridge at 844659 - is that right and is that the best way across? Any advice would be appreciated.

Happy New Year to everyone . . .

Yes, that it a little confusing on the map but be assured that there's an excellent and robust suspension bridge at NN871649, And fine green lanes south of the A9 to get you there.

Happy new year, Mark and Colin.

Time your arrival in Blair Atholl well, Mark, and you will be able to sample the delights of the excellent Watermill Tea Room, which you will walk past after you have crossed the bridge.

Thank you both - that should help me keep my feet dry and tummy full . . .

I can testify to that.
Wonderful café.

Wonderful café.

Indeed. But beware, sometimes they shut at ten to five. I only wept bitterly for a little while.

It was a blow Emma, but the fish and chip supper with a pot if tea and excellent company cheered me up

Re: Crossing the Garry south of Blair Atholl

I remember fording the Garry one year, after a long walk via Loch Bhac, then tramping up to the Blair Atholl Arms with rather wet feet. Struggling to think why I would have done that than cross this bridge... the thought of macaroni cheese must have rendered me senseless.
