Bridges in Glen Kinglass - are any missing

Does anybody know the state of the bridges in Glen Kinglass currently? In particular I'm looking at the bridge at NN 152 368.

Re: Bridges in Glen Kinglass - are any missing

I don't know about the one in question John, but the bridge at NN165383 is substantial and will almost certainly be there as it provides access to the estate buildings from the track. Remember having a brew stop under that bridge in April 2012 to get out of some 'orrible weather.

Re: Bridges in Glen Kinglass - are any missing

Thanks Andrew, I'll note that one in case other route across from the south are not possible.

From Geograph.

This photo of the bridge was taken on 16th May this year.

This one shows it as a pretty substantial structure, so I would guess that it will still be there next year.

Re: Bridges in Glen Kinglass - are any missing

Thanks Phil, that certainly looks like it should survive the winter.

Oh I don't know, the Cambus O'May Bridge and the Polhollick bridge were a similar design and possibly even more substantial and look what happened to them.

Even the (very solid) Invercauld Bridge was very severely damaged and could easily have been a lot worse. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CXuDpvkWMAALrBz.jpg

Re: Bridges in Glen Kinglass - are any missing

I'd be tempted to still teeter gingerly across those rather than a long walk around.

Re: Bridges in Glen Kinglass - are any missing

Sure, I was just commenting that a bridge simply being "substantial" meant nothing last winter, some very solid bridges were trashed and many, especially smaller footbridges and estate access roads, are still out of service. We can only hope that we get no more Desmonds, Evas and Franks this winter.

Re: Bridges in Glen Kinglass - are any missing

Hello John, This is probably not anywhere near where you'll be but the bridge at NN 185 402 was removed in 2013 and replaced by one at NN 185 398
