Sneak Preview: TGO Song Demo

Over the last couple of years rumours have spread about the TGO Song. Some of you have even joined in a chorus or two, usually as we march through the Fetteresso towards the coast.

This is hopefully a collaborative project with a number of our musical walkers contributing to the final version. To celebrate the 'opening' of next year's event — and to promote my collaborators to get on with it — here (for a limited time only) is the rough demo. (This is a demo with gaps for instrumental breaks and so on).

The TGO Song Demo

Re: Sneak Preview: TGO Song Demo

Superb, Andy.

Re: Sneak Preview: TGO Song Demo

Now I want you all singing along next year. The point of it is the chorus — the verses can change over time. But as some will attest, this is good for the trudge bits!

Re: Sneak Preview: TGO Song Demo

Really like it Andy, nice one!

Re: Sneak Preview: TGO Song Demo

I'm on it Andy.

Been a bit weighted down with matters domestic, but I shall be doing some fill in stuff shorty.
Might even be doing the whole things as a blues number too.

OOOoooohhhhh AAAAAhhhh

Blimey! Someone's spilled their curry all over that nice guitar!

Re: Sneak Preview: TGO Song Demo

Mate, that is an awesome guitar.
I've been working on the blues version of Andy's song today.
Be putting it down tomorrow.
It's going to sound very different to the folk version.
Especially once the lead track gets layered over it. ☺

Re: Sneak Preview: TGO Song Demo

Cranking up the amps as we speak heh heh

Re: Sneak Preview: TGO Song Demo

Funny this music lark. I'm thinking all acoustic with John Joycs in a staring role.

Humphrey thinks the Ramones !!!!

Re: Sneak Preview: TGO Song Demo

I'm with Humphrey 1-2-3-4!!!!!!!!

Re: Sneak Preview: TGO Song Demo

Click here for Sheena Is A Punk Rocker

Um . . . John J in a STARING role? Scary . . .

Re: Sneak Preview: TGO Song Demo

I do believe that John has a crank handle that you can use to wind him up to a true folky twaaaaannnnggg vocal!

The Ramones..
The Blues.
Rock...

Is that known in the land of the Folk?

Personally I'd go with the Roy Buchanan version :-)

Re: Sneak Preview: TGO Song Demo

I'm looking forward to the Sloman hip-hop version

Re: Sneak Preview: TGO Song Demo

Well, 1st rough cut of the Blues Version (extended) - A bit Beefheart!

Needs headphones or volume.. Just sayin..
Needs a lot more mixing too.

Same words as Andy's, since he wrote them..

Da Blues Version

That's more like it!

Looking forward to HMP3's Ramones version (not sure how he will fit all the verses into 2 minutes of mayhem )

Re: Sneak Preview: TGO Song Demo

Yes, you're getting there, and I think a little more bottleneck guitar will bring out the true South Esk Delta Blues sound. My own preference would be for a touch of Appalachia, mountain dulcimer, banjo, button box, and high and lonesome fiddle to get that link of the hometown music with our Continental and Transatlantic cousins.

Re: Sneak Preview: TGO Song Demo

Cheers John.

I've dug out the Blues Harps in preparation ;-)

Re: Sneak Preview: TGO Song Demo

Moothies! Can the Jaws Harp be far behind? You musos need to decide on tempo and mood. Is this designed for the keen first time Challenger marching up a sun filled Glen Licht with lapwings and eagles wheeling overhead; or is it the Tarfside trudge for survivors from The Masons' Arms limping painfully to Edzell, Like Napoleon's retreat from Moscow?

Re: Sneak Preview: TGO Song Demo

Hmmm . . . here's a take with a v primitive drum 'n' bass that kicks in at the second chorus Staight ahead marching 4x4 with a touch of cymbals. Nothing complicated.

I have a Jaws Harp somewhere.
If I've lost it, I need to buy another.
I have found the kazoo. ☺

Re: Sneak Preview: TGO Song Demo

Great tune, great lyrics, slips easily into the brain. Er,is there anyway of getting it back out of your head without recourse to malt whisky or even stronger narcotics?

Err, no. That's the point. As a few can now attest!

Re: Sneak Preview: TGO Song Demo

Well done Andy

Re: Sneak Preview: TGO Song Demo

Nice one Andy. I'm sure there will be some other wordsmiths to provide some more bawdy verses

Re: Sneak Preview: TGO Song Demo

Brilliant Andy.
