I was on holiday in Hawes when Peter Goddard spotted me and came across to give me the sad news about Mick and Jim Maison, two stalwarts of the Challenge. I first met Mick on my second Challenge in 1984 and on many occasions afterwards and spending a memorable evening with him and Iain Matheson in Corrour bothy. I met Jim sometime in the early 1990's and shared some time together on Challenge Control a few years later.

A great loss.
