All mountain areas of Britain from Friday 6th May 2016

Becoming warm this weekend & early next week - valley temperatures widely topping 20C, warmest in western areas. The weekend will see a humid air mass across the country, triggering various plumes of thunderstorms, spreading increasingly northwards. Locally torrential rain may set in for several hours, likely focused on western regions, although precise detail remains uncertain. Next week sees high pressure to the north of Britain, eventually bringing largely dry conditions - although a brisk easterly wind may develop. Snow cover on higher tops will progressively thaw.
