weather

Well looking out of my window this morning at the 3ins of snow i cant help wounder what the conditions will be like for the challenge.
I was hoping to be walking in trail shoes however i am having my doubts.
Are we to expect more snow this year?

what do you think??

Re: weather

Having been keeping an eye on the long range weather forecast over the last few weeks, the meteorologists from the land of eternal optimism seem to indicate that the first couple of days may be wet , followed by sunny periods. The second week may be quite sunny.

But, of course being Scotland in May means we could experience anything from hurricanes to heatwaves !

Re: weather

My advice, from living in the north of Scotland and from Challenging, go prepared for anything and everything. If you don't want to carry the winter hardware, be prepared not to go high if the conditions on the day are not in your favour. You can just never tell until you unzip your tent in the morning!!

Re: weather

I agree with Louise - be prepared for 4 seasons over the duration of the Challenge.

I've been in blizzards in June and September and have heard that it can snow in any

month of the year in Scotland.

Re: weather

I think the only certainty is we will have lots of weather. In the 14 challenges I've completed the score is on 14 it rained, on 14 it was sunny, on 14 it hailed, on 14 it was windy, on 13 it snowed. The Challenge motto should be: Be prepared for the worst, hope for the best.

Re: weather

Cheers for the comments. I'm prepped for the cold and rain but just wanted to gage what others thought of the weather this year.
Not long now, Woohoo.

Re: weather

Phil I was having the same dilemma, trail shoes or boots ?. On a recent trip staying at the Taft Hotel I woke up to a couple of inches of snow, so on with the Sealskin socks and all was well with the world. Trail shoes it is for me.
