The Star Hotel in Montrose (not too expensive but more than adequate) still apparently has some rooms for Thursday night 26th May; the Friday is booked solid because of the music festival. Tel. 01674 676048

And in case anyone should decide they want accommodation in Taynuilt (I was considering it to make it easier for one of my sons to join me Saturday morning when He's coming along for the next two or three days in the hills): the campsite closed 9 years ago and the hotel is very expensive, and most B&Bs have given up, but there is one new B&B: Mr.& Mrs.Corns, Ceo Mara Croft, 01866 822704 or mobile 07833 528890. They have some rooms on Friday 13th & Sat 14th I gather, and they charge £45 pppn for a couple. The single supplement is prohibitive for me so I won't be there, my son will just have to find my tent!! They are about a mile west of Taynuilt on the main Oban road, quite near where the track & road from Balindore meet the main road, slightly west on the seaward side.
